Home @ Drawing Room SF

  • Drawing Room ANNEX 599 Valencia Street San Francisco, CA, 94110 United States (map)

This exhibition invited artists from the SF Bay Area to submit a piece of work related to the theme of HOME, designed to invite works from local artists that address a multitude of issues including the social and physical constructs of housing, immigration, identity and the histories of urban and land development. The theme is also intended to explore what the concept of “HOME” and what it provokes and inspires in each of us;  be it emotional, sensory or physical.

In a time when there are wars and atrocities happening on multiple continents, along with environmental cataclysms that we as humans have caused and are now trying to rectify and reverse, we look to a concept–HOME– that relates to all species on earth.  We are looking for work that examines how our social constructs have evolved to define its meaning in relation to our own personal histories. This open call for art also looks to San Francisco’s deep cultural communities, its place as a sanctuary city for many, and a refuge for those that find their way here.
